Safety Around Water

Program is for non-swimmers and beginners (Stages 1-3 of the YMCA progressive swim program).
Safety Around Water will meet daily for 1 week (Monday-Friday). 45-minute lessons are designed to teach participants water safety skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and build their skills and confidence in and around water.
Participants will learn two important benchmark skills:
- Jump, Push, Turn, Grab
- Swim, Float, Swim
All participants are encouraged to take swim lessons year-round as learning how to swim is a life skill.

Safety Around Water in West Milford (Ages 5-14)
This program is held at the Outdoor Education Center located at 131 Germantown Road, West Milford.

Ages 5-14
Program is for non-swimmers and beginners (Stages 1-3 of the YMCA progressive swim program).
This offering will be outdoors and will be held in the shallow area of our lake.
Rain or shine! Water safety skills and activities will continue on land.
Teaching children how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program helps youth learn essential water safety skills, which can open a world of possibilities for them to satisfy their curiosity safely.
