Certifications
All lifeguarding courses follow the requirements of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Full Course (Blended)
LIFEGUARD FULL COURSE (BLENDED)–
The Lifeguarding course provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in both shallow water (less than 7 feet) and deeper water (7 feet or more) and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
This class is taught in a blended learning format, and the assigned online portion(s) (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to each instructor-led session. Participants who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding (including deep water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid valid for 2 years.
Prerequisites:
1. Minimum age: 15 years
2. Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water, submerge, resurface, swim 150 yards (using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both), maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, then swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hands, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
After successful completion of the pre-course test, registration will be available in person at our Park St facility.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification Class (Blended)
LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION CLASS (BLENDED)
An abbreviated Lifeguarding course that reviews course content in addition to practice and testing of skills and emergency team response. This class is taught in a blended learning format, and the assigned online portion(s) (accessed via mobile, desktop, or tablet) must be completed prior to each instructor-led session. To participate in the recertification course, participants must possess a Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid (current certification or certification expired by no more than 30 days).
Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid valid for 2 years.
Must show proof of current certification. Please email current cert to:[email protected] for pre-registration approval.
Pre-course is first hour of the class and no refunds for failed pre-course or no call/no show participants.
Bring resuscitation masks, whistle, and lanyard.

CPR/AED (Adult and Child)
American Safety and Health Institute CPR and AED certification valid for 2 years upon successful completion.
Learn how to save a life in an emergency. The CPR/AED courses are designed to teach individuals the essential skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The class covers adult/child, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and how to assist someone who is choking.
Participants will gain hands-on experience using manikins and training AEDs under the guidance of a certified instructor. By the end of the course, participants will be able to confidently perform CPR and operate an AED in real-life situations.

Lifeguard Certification Mandatory (Precourse) Swimming Skills Evaluation
LIFEGUARD PREREQUISITE SWIMMING SKILLS EVALUATION– Minimum age 15, must successfully complete before enrolling in a Lifeguard class.
Pre-Course Requirements:
- Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence: Jump into the water from the side, totally submerge, recover to the surface and swim 150yards. After swimming 150 yds, maintain position at the surface of the water and tread water for 2 minutes using legs only. After maintaining position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards.
- Timed Event—Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards on your back with legs only and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, in 1 minute 40 seconds (goggles are not permitted).
